What this site is
Overhead Door Resources documents the products, manufacturers, codes and vocabulary of the overhead door trade in one place. It covers the whole range a full-service door company handles: residential garage doors and openers, commercial sectional and rolling steel doors, roll-up sheet doors, fire-rated doors and shutters, high-speed doors, security grilles, full-view aluminum doors, hangar and hydraulic doors, traffic and cold-storage doors, commercial steel entry doors, commercial operators and controls, gate operators and access control, loading dock equipment, and the springs, hardware and accessories behind all of it.
Today the site holds 0 manufacturer profiles, 0 guides, 0 code and standard entries, 0 organization entries and 0 glossary terms.
Independence
No manufacturer, distributor or dealer pays to be listed, ranked or described here, and the site does not sell, install or service anything. Profiles are written from public sources and describe what a company makes without recommending it. Where a guide mentions a brand as an example, it is because the example is useful, not because of any relationship.
How profiles are built
Each manufacturer profile is assembled from the company's own website (about, history, product and warranty pages), press releases, regulatory filings where the company is public, association directories such as DASMA and IDA, and reputable trade press. A second, independent pass checks the headline facts (headquarters, founding year, ownership, product line names, plant locations) against those sources before the profile is published. Facts that could not be confirmed are left blank rather than guessed. The sources used are listed at the bottom of every profile, along with the date it was last checked.
Guides are written to the same standard. Numbers such as gauges, R-values, cycle ratings and code section references come from manufacturer technical literature, DASMA technical data sheets, UL, NFPA, ICC and OSHA documents, and each guide lists what it drew on.
What this site is not
- It is not engineering advice. Wind-load, fire-rating and code decisions belong with a licensed design professional and the authority having jurisdiction.
- It is not a substitute for the manufacturer's installation instructions, which govern the warranty and the listing.
- It is not a directory of installers. If you need work done, use a manufacturer's dealer locator or an IDEA-accredited dealer search.
Corrections
Companies change hands, move and retire product lines. If you find something out of date or wrong, we want to fix it. A corrections address will be published here shortly; in the meantime, note the page URL and the correction so it can be sent once the address is live.
